The growing global population need increased protein production with less environmental impact.
Roslin Technologies applies innovative biotechnologies to develop superior cells for the production of cultivated meat – real meat grown directly from animal cells, without the need to raise animals.
Cultivated meat can help to reduce the environmental footprint of meat production, improve animal welfare, reduce antibiotic use, and strengthen food security. This will address consumer concerns, make meat more accessible, affordable, nutritious and safe.
Founded in 2017 as a venture between two investment firms and the University of Edinburgh, Roslin Tech was also supported by the University’s in-house venture capital fund, Old College Capital.
Roslin Technologies recently expanded its IP global footprint with a patent granted in Japan. This demonstrates the global interest in Roslin Technologies’ offering as they have customers, collaborators, patents and investors in Europe, North America, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East. The company is also working with the UK regulators to get cultivated meat available to UK consumers in the near future.
