Edinburgh Technology Fund

Edinburgh Technology Fund Ltd (ETF) is a subsidiary company of the University of Edinburgh. Its principle role is to act as a nominee shareholder for the University’s equity holdings. This equity has typically been received in return for an IP licence or other agreement in spin-out companies. The University receives any returns, for example from an exit.

 

EFT Management team

ETF governance and management is overseen by a board of trusted professionals from across the University:

  • David Montgomery (Chair), Director, Strategic Finance Change Management
  • Chris Cope (Secretary), Head of Finance, Edinburgh Innovations
  • John Lonsdale, Head of Enterprise Services, Edinburgh Innovations
  • Ashley Shannon, Director of Operations, Corporate Services

The day-to-day management of the ETF portfolio is undertaken by the investment team at Edinburgh Innovations. The team works with others at Edinburgh Innovations and colleagues in the wider University to support ETF’s portfolio of companies and resolve any queries that arise. This team also manage the Old College Capital fund.
